Cut Carbon Champion

Cut Carbon Champion - Certification

Achieving a Cut Carbon Champion label is determined by the certification process.
Products need to first comply with the appropriate International Standards - ISO 14025 etc. which also specifies a specific set of requirements.
Detailed information about how to create an Cut Carbon Champion Certificate (4C) is defined in the General Programme Instructions.
Creating an 4C then includes the following steps:
1. Find a relevant Product Category Rule (PCR) for the product
2. Perform an Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study based on the PCR
3. Compile the Environmental Product Disclosure (EPD) Report
4. Verification or Process Certification for either the LCA or EPD
5. Assessment and Registration of the 4C
6. Cut Carbon Champion Trade Mark Agreement
7. Use Cut Carbon Champion on your selected products
A 4C is normally valid for a minimum of one and up to five years after which the declaration must necessarily be revised and reissued. Regardless of the validity, a published 4C must be updated if one of the environmental indicators has worsened by more than 10% compared with the published data. The diagram below shows how a 4C is generated graphically.
